Hosting Events

With a focus on events geared toward graduate and post-doctoral studies and student life, Thomson House plays host to conferences, symposiums, general meetings, social gatherings, banquets, receptions, graduation parties, and even weddings!

The best part about hosting an event here is that we offer full in-house catering and bar services.  When you use our catering services, all you need to do is let us know what you want, and then we take care of everything.  There is no need for you to worry about delivery times, setting up food, or cleaning up after the event, we do it all.

While Member Groups do enjoy a considerable reduction in rental costs for Member events, often using space free of charge, McGill Groups can also rent space for events at a reduced rate.   Rates for any room vary depending on when you need the space, and the duration of the event.  All Private events are subject to fees.

Conferences:

With four conference rooms that supply natural light during the day, and provide a superb view of Montreal in the evenings, they are the ideal setting for comfortable, productive meetings.

With varying capacities of up to 20 people for a roundtable meeting, or up to 35 people in an audience style setting, Thomson House provides flexible spaces with audio-visual capabilities and wireless access on the McGill network.

Need space for a larger roundtable discussion, or want to host a panel of speakers with an audience of up to 120 people?  Then the Ballroom is the ideal space for you.  With the room starting out as a blank slate it can be set up in almost any configuration; to host a career fair, a general assembly, or even a group retreat to give you a fresh perspective, brainstorming in a comfortable setting, we do it all.

Ballroom:

With a seating capacity of 100 people for a dinner, 150 people for a more casual cocktail event, or more for a dance party, the Thomson House Ballroom is an ideal location for your small to medium sized event.

Catering:

Thomson House offers full in-house catering services, known around McGill campus as the place to go for quality and price.  From continental breakfasts and buffet lunches, to formal dinners and casual wine and cheeses affairs, we offer something to suit every need, and if you don’t see what you want, our chef is always open to special menu requests.
